kinderzimmer Kitchens

Our multifunctional kinderzimmer kitchens provide a unique opportunity for children to become comfortable with early years nutrition and cooking skills. Not only do they enjoy meals together as they would at home, but they also learn essential daily life skills such as setting up the table, serving, sharing, and clearing away. They explore farm-to-table practices using fresh produce grown in our garden, learn food safety techniques, and engage in baking nutritious snacks for their classmates. Additionally, they get creative with cooking-related activities like using clay or participating in science experiments related to food.

Our approach integrates hands-on learning with healthy eating habits, ensuring that children build a positive relationship with food while acquiring practical skills.

Partnering with Nursery Kitchen

Partnering with Nursery Kitchen

Our partnership with Nursery Kitchen ensures that we provide exciting, delicious meals at every mealtime, packed with nutritious, fresh ingredients.

Nursery Kitchen’s Food Innovation Team is dedicated to creating the best nursery menus to get children excited about healthy eating from an early age, fostering lifelong healthy habits. Each meal is meticulously developed over 9-12 months using the freshest ingredients, while also focusing on environmental sustainability, minimising food waste, and delivering meals that are both tasty and nutritious. This commitment to quality and sustainability helps us offer healthy eating options that are perfect for children.

Our new ‘Nutritionist Approved’ menu is accredited by Nursery Kitchen! This means we demonstrate a standard of excellence in food provision which works to support children’s future health outcomes, and aims to promote healthy relationships with food. These standards go above and beyond the national recommended guidelines for food and drink provision in early years settings. Children who attend kinderzimmer can receive up to 90% of their nutrition while in our care, so our new accredited menus play a vital role in helping them meet these dietary needs and go beyond national guidance to support lifelong healthy habits.

  • Beans and pulses for extra fibre and plant-based protein
  • Oily fish once a week for omega-3s
  • A meat-free day for variety and sustainability
  • Creative plant-based dishes with both visible and hidden vegetables
  • 20 different vegetables and 11 fruits rotated regularly
  • A variety of protein sources
  • Low salt and low sugar recipes
  • High-welfare meat, free-range eggs, UK Red Tractor-certified meat, and MSC-approved fish

Can this cater to my child’s dietary needs?

Yes! We can cater for a wide range of dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, and cultural or religious preferences. All meals are prepared with strict allergen control procedures in place, so your child can enjoy safe, nutritious food that meets their individual needs. Please get in touch with us if you’d like to discuss a specific dietary requirement.

What about Weaning?

What about Weaning?

We welcome children from 3 months old and so know weaning is an important nutritional milestone for many children at kinderzimmer. We lead by your and your child’s readiness to wean and can support in the method and timeframes that you want. Logging all mealtimes on the kinderzimmer app means you can easily keep track of what food has been enjoyed (or not so much) and how much your child has eaten each day.
Whether you child starts with us before they pre-weaning, mid-weaning, or post-weaning, we’ll get to know your home routines and wishes for their meal-time to ensure we can build that into their kinderzimmer day.
